Hericium or spiny bear mushrooms are a small genus of mushrooms and belong to the russula order. A particularly popular edible mushroom of this genus is the hedgehog spiny beard (Hericium erinaceus). In traditional Chinese dietetics, the generally harmonising properties of Hericium are highly valued. The extract contains high amounts of valuable beta-glucans.

Hericium extract also contains vitamin C (Ester-C®) with its diverse properties, in particular as a contribution to the normal function of the nervous system and the immune system, and niacin (vitamin B3) as a contribution to normal mucous membranes.

The special Ester-C® contains no free acid and is therefore considered to be better tolerated.
