Active ingredients

• Calcium butyrate^{ButiShield™}:^{ButiShield™} is produced using the patented MicroPEARL™ spray-freezing technology and is a source of butyrate that minimises the characteristic odour and ensures a gradual and targeted release in the gut. Butyrate (butyric acid) is produced by the human gut microbiota itself through the fermentation of carbohydrates.
• Glycine: Glycine is a natural amino acid found in the body’s proteins and in food. It is involved in numerous fundamental physiological processes, such as protein synthesis and normal cell activity. Glycine is produced by the body, but can also be obtained from food.
• Vitamin D3: Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin that can be obtained from the diet, but is primarily produced by the body itself through exposure to sunlight. Its active form acts via the vitamin D receptor (VDR), which is present in the gut and in immune cells , and contributes to the normal functioning of the immune system.
• Vitamin C: Vitamin C has many important functions in the body and therefore plays a major role in health. If you eat few fruits and vegetables, it may be advisable to supplement your diet with vitamin C. Among other things, vitamin C contributes to normal psychological function and a normal immune system.

The intestinal barrier

Scientific research shows that the gut barrier plays a central role in our health. It functions as an active filter that distinguishes beneficial substances from potentially harmful ones. If the intestinal barrier is compromised, it can no longer prevent unwanted substances (bacteria, bacterial antigens, food particles, etc.) from entering the body. Release tests

The butyrate release from BUTIRBIOMA STICK throughout the gastrointestinal tract was compared with that of other butyrate-based products intended for direct ingestion. Competitor products release 45–70% of their butyrate in the stomach and reach a release rate of 85–90% after 8 hours. BUTIRBIOMA STICK, by contrast, shows a release of around 50% after 8 hours, with the remainder being retained for the large intestine. The 72-hour test shows that the release of BUTIRBIOMA STICK is gradual, sustained and occurs throughout the entire gastrointestinal tract.

Directions for use

​Place the contents of one sachet into your mouth a little at a time and allow it to dissolve. Alternatively, the contents of the sachet can be stirred into yoghurt or quark and eaten. Take once or twice a day.
