What is Posterisan protect?

Posterisan protect contains a skin protection complex to relieve the symptoms of haemorrhoids. After application, the water-repellent skin protection complex forms a protective layer over the affected anal area, both inside and around the anus. This protects the sensitive areas from irritation. At the same time, passing stools is noticeably made easier by a mechanical lubricating effect. This helps to prevent symptoms from recurring.

What is in Posterisan protect?

Posterisan protect contains a skin protection complex comprising jojoba wax, yellow beeswax and cetyl stearyl isononanoate.

Jojoba wax (also known as jojoba oil ) nourishes, protects and smooths the skin thanks to its beneficial fatty acid composition. It forms a delicate lipid film on the skin without sealing it off. Moisture retention is increased and skin elasticity in the stressed anal area is improved. Natural yellow beeswax is responsible for the water-repellent effect of the skin protection complex, whilst cetyl stearyl isononanoate makes the skin supple. Another ingredient is hard fat.

When should Posterisan protect be used?

Posterisan protect is used as and when required. It is recommended to use one suppository in the morning and one in the evening. However, in cases of more severe symptoms, the suppositories may also be used more frequently. You can safely use Posterisan protect during pregnancy and whilst breastfeeding.

Method of administration

• The suppositories should be inserted deep into the anus using a finger so that they can exert their protective effect over a prolonged period. Removing the suppository: To remove the suppository, please pull the foil at the upper ends apart far enough to allow the suppository to be easily removed.
• Notes: Using Posterisan protect may cause soiling of your underwear. We therefore recommend using underwear protection (e.g. anal pads).
• Duration of use: You can use Posterisan protect as and when required and for up to four weeks without interruption. Regular use of Posterisan protect may help to prevent the recurrence of haemorrhoid symptoms.
• Contraindications: If you are hypersensitive to any of the ingredients in Posterisan protect, you should refrain from using it. Posterisan protect should not be used at the same time as other products intended to treat acute symptoms such as itching, stinging, burning, weeping or pain in the anal region. The skin protection complex in Posterisan protect could otherwise potentially reduce the effectiveness of these products.
• Side effects: A burning sensation and redness in the anal area have been reported during use.
• Precautions: Direct contact between condoms and Posterisan protect significantly impairs their tear resistance, meaning that the safety of condom use cannot be guaranteed.
