- Protects the anal region from irritation, e.g. in the event of diarrhoea or hard stools
- Alleviates mild symptoms of haemorrhoidal disease and protects against recurrence
- Safe to use during pregnancy and breastfeeding as well as in children
- Posterisan® protect contains a skin protection complex of jojoba wax, yellow beeswax and cetyl stearyl isononanoate.
- Jojoba wax (also known as jojoba oil) nourishes, protects and smoothes the skin thanks to its favourable fatty acid composition, forming a delicate lipid film on the skin without sealing it. It increases the skin's ability to retain moisture and improves skin elasticity in the stressed anal area.
- Natural yellow beeswax is responsible for the water-repellent effect of the skin protection complex, whilecetyl stearyl isononanoate softens the skin.
- Other ingredients are benzyl alcohol, butylated hydroxytoluene, white vaseline, purified water and lanolin.
- Posterisan® protect is used as required, particularly before and after a bowel movement. The amount to be applied depends on the size of the skin and mucous membrane areas to be treated.
- Posterisan® protect is safe to use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Dosage form
How to use
- For use on the external anal area, the ointment is applied thinly with a finger.
- For application in the anal canal, the pack contains an applicator with side exit openings. For easier handling, it is recommended to keep the ointment at room temperature.
- Side effects: If Posterisan protect is used as directed, side effects are only to be expected in extremely rare cases. Butylhydroxytoluene can cause localised skin irritation and irritation of the mucous membranes.
- To use, screw the applicator onto the tube and remove the cap (Fig. 1).
- By pressing on the tube, the ointment is pressed into the applicator until it emerges from the side openings (Fig. 2).
- The applicator is then carefully inserted into the anus. The lubricity can be increased by applying a little ointment to the applicator. The ointment is then released into the anal canal by pressing on the tube again. Sufficient distribution of the ointment is achieved by carefully turning the tube (Fig. 3).
- Cleaning the applicator after use is best done by squeezing out some ointment from the side openings, wiping the surface with absorbent paper and replacing the cap to prevent the ointment from drying out in the applicator.
- If the ointment is not used for a longer period of time, the applicator should be unscrewed and cleaned with warm water.
- We recommend rolling up the tube from the end after each use so that the front part is always full. This makes it easier to remove the ointment.
