Otowaxol is a solution for instilling into the ear to remove excess earwax (cerumen) and earwax plugs.

How does Otowaxol help with earwax?

Otowaxol® ear drops ensure that hardened cerumen (earwax) softens and swells. It can then be easily rinsed out with the enclosed ear syringe using lukewarm water.

Directions for use

• Adults and elderly patients: 10 drops are instilled into the ear to be treated.
• Children and adolescents: The dosage for children and adolescents is the same as for adults and elderly patients.
• Method of application: Otowaxol solution is instilled directly from the bottle into the ear canal of the ear to be treated by gently pressing the bottle while holding the head at an angle. The ear canal is then sealed with cotton wool. After 5 to 10 minutes, the softened or dissolved earwax is rinsed out with lukewarm water using the ear syringe. If the earwax is hard and solidified, this process can be repeated and the application time extended. Consult an ENT doctor if the ear canal is still blocked after 2-3 applications.

Instructions for use of the ear syringe

This combination pack contains an ear syringe for rinsing the ear canal with lukewarm water after treatment with Otowaxol.

Use of ear syringe:

Before first use, briefly boil the ear syringe with hot water as described in the package leaflet.

1. After using Otowaxol and the appropriate contact time, fill the ear syringe by hand with lukewarm water.
2. Insert the ear syringe carefully and not too deeply into the ear canal over a bowl, washbasin or towel.
3. To allow the water to enter the ear canal, carefully squeeze the ball-shaped end of the ear syringe until there is no more liquid in the ear syringe. While rinsing out the softened or loosened earwax, tilt your head to the side.
4. Carefully remove the ear syringe from the ear canal when it is compressed.
