- Bacteria (e.g. Staphylocuccus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa)
- Enveloped viruses (e.g. influenza, Covid-19, herpes)
- Fungi (e.g. Candida albicans)
- Active ingredient octenidine: Octenidine unfolds its antiseptic effect particularly on mucous membranes and thus combats bacterial pathogens, certain viruses and fungi.
- Patented lozenge: For the first time in Austria, octenidine is available as an active ingredient in a patented lozenge: the antiseptic effect of octenidine has been tried and tested for decades.
- Pleasant galenics: Adults and adolescents aged 12 and over can take one lozenge every 2 to 3 hours and let it slowly dissolve in the mouth. The maximum daily dose of 6 tablets must not be exceeded.
- Well tolerated: Octeangin® is well tolerated.
- Small sores in the mouth. Bacteria often have an easy time with open sores in the mouth: they can penetrate, spread and cause inflammation.
- Inflammation of the gums (gingivitis). This is usually caused by a lack of oral hygiene. If bacteria accumulations in the interdental spaces (plaque) are not removed regularly, they can multiply over time and cause inflammation.
- Inflammation of the periodontium (periodontitis). Can develop from an untreated inflammation of the gums.
- Inflammation of the oral mucosa (stomatitis). In addition to bacteria, viruses (e.g. herpes viruses) or fungi can also cause inflammation of the oral mucosa. Inflammation of the oral mucosa can also lead to inflammation of the gums.
- Pharyngitis (inflammation of the throat ). Usually triggered by cold viruses.
- Inflammation of the tonsils (tonsillitis). If there is a purulent tonsillitis, a bacterial infection is often the cause.
- Laryngitis (inflammation of the larynx ). Can occur as part of a cold when the mostly viral pathogen spreads from the upper airways downwards towards the larynx during a flu-like infection.
- Octenidine dihydrochloride, or octenidine for short, is a disinfectant known for its antiseptic effectiveness in combating bacteria, fungi and certain viruses, especially in wound and mucous membrane disinfection. Due to its strong surface-active properties, octenidine reacts with both the components of the cell wall and the membrane of the microbial cell, leading to the destruction of cell function.
- With Octeangin®, octenidine is available for the first time in Austria in the form of a lozenge. Its antiseptic effect is used in the treatment of inflammation of the oral and pharyngeal mucosa.
