OMNi-LOGiC® APFELPEKTIN is a dietary supplement with valuable dietary fibres for intestinal bacteria. The prebiotic apple pectin works in synergy with the Omni Biotic Metabolic Probiotic.

Who is OMNi-LOGiC® APPLE PEKTIN suitable for?

Our intestinal bacteria have numerous tasks, including food utilisation. What all our intestinal bacteria have in common is that they can be categorised into two large groups, the so-called Bacteroidetes and the Firmicutes. In a healthy intestinal flora, these two groups are present in an optimal ratio of 1:1, which means that there are roughly equal numbers of both groups of bacteria in the intestine.

In overweight people, however, it is often the case that the intestinal flora is out of balance and the firmicutes bacteria group predominates. The ratio can be shifted up to 2,000:1. The intestine then contains 2,000 times more Firmicutes than Bacteroidetes!

Firmicutes have the special property that they can break down food components that are actually indigestible for humans (namely the so-called dietary fibres and complex carbohydrates). As a result, many easily digestible carbohydrates are produced in the intestine - much more than in an intestine with an optimal bacterial ratio - which are absorbed in addition to the calories eaten. This "hidden" intake can easily amount to 200 calories more - every day!

In addition, the shift in the bacterial ratio - in favour of the firmicutes - can take on a life of its own: The more carbohydrates (e.g. sugar, pasta etc.) are eaten, the more comfortable the firmicutes feel and the better they can multiply in the gut - a vicious circle has begun!

How does OMNi-LOGiC® APPLE PEKTIN work?

Apple pectin is the optimal food source for Bacteroidetes - the bacteria that support the elimination of sugar from the body. If the Bacteroidetes bacteria have sufficient apple pectin at their disposal, they multiply and colonise our bodies sustainably.

Pro- and prebiotics

The supply of viable symbionts (= probiotics) strengthens the "good" intestinal bacteria. These bacterial strains also need oxygen for their metabolism - these are so-called aerobic or mostly only facultatively anaerobic bacteria.

However, not all bacterial strains can simply be "ingested" - a large proportion of our intestinal bacteria are strictly anaerobic and therefore cannot be cultivated and stored outside the body. As soon as they encounter oxygen, they die. This is why our anaerobic friends need special food (= prebiotics): If we feed these bacteria with their favourite foods, we create an optimal habitat for them in our gut. As a thank you, the "good" intestinal inhabitants multiply and fulfil their task optimally.
