What does the food supplement LACTIFRU® contribute?
Lactose and fructose are carbohydrates that are frequently found in our daily diet, whether naturally, as additives or as part of recipes. LACTIFRU® is a combination of two enzymes that help digest precisely these substances: Lactase, which breaks down lactose to help with lactose digestion problems, and glucose isomerase, which supports the symptom-free breakdown of fructose in the gut.

Fructose digestion

The digestion of fructose and the classic sugar glucose is physiologically very different. However, fructose is also absorbed in the small intestine. It has its own transporters for absorption. The main sources in the human diet are fruit and honey. However, fructose is also increasingly being added to mineral water or tea drinks as a sweetener. Some people do not have the ability to break down or fully digest fructose. The sucrose known as household sugar also consists of fructose (as well as glucose) and can therefore cause digestive problems in these people.

Function of lactase

Lactase is an endogenous enzyme that is produced in the small intestine and can break down the sugar naturally contained in milk, lactose (into glucose and galactose). Only then is the digestion of milk and dairy products possible. If the milk sugar is not broken down, the lactose continues to enter the lower sections of the intestine, where it causes digestive problems. Infants and young children produce the enzyme in order to be able to utilise breast milk. However, some people subsequently lose the ability to break down lactose because the activity of the enzyme decreases or ceases completely.

Application:

LACTIFRU® capsules are taken with liquid at mealtimes.
Dosage: 1 capsule 3 times a day.
However, there are differences in lactose intolerance, so those affected should seek
advice regarding the function of the substance in their diet.
