Idroflog® eye drops multidose - solution for application to the eye, 10 ml

Idroflog® eye drops contain a solution for use in the eye, comprising sodium hyaluronate and hydrocortisone sodium phosphate. It stabilises the tear film, provides relief for dry eyes and, thanks to the hydrocortisone, helps to combat eye inflammation.

What is Idroflog® and what is it used for?

• Idroflog® is an ophthalmic solution containing sodium hyaluronate, which, thanks to its mucomimetic and pseudoplastic properties, spreads evenly across the surface of the eye and forms a viscoelastic protective film. In this way, Idroflog® stabilises the tear film through its mechanical action (‘barrier effect’) and reduces the friction caused by eye movements and blinking.
• It protects the surface of the eye by promoting the healing processes of damage to the cells of the corneal epithelium caused by reduced tear production. This is because when the glands that produce the tear film – for various reasons – reduce their normal activity, the corneal surface is more exposed to external influences.
• Over time, these factors lead to dysfunction of the corneal cells and the associated risk of unpleasant inflammation. Idroflog® protects the corneal surface from external influences and, thanks to the additional effect of hydrocortisone sodium phosphate (a low-dose cortisone with a mild anti-inflammatory effect and short duration of action), helps to prevent the risk of recurrence of inflammation. Idroflog® must only be used for a limited period and, in all cases, only under the supervision of a specialist. 
• Due to its special saline composition, Idroflog® restores the concentrations of important ions such as sodium, potassium and magnesium, which are essential for the health of the ocular surface, and maintains them at physiological levels. This medical device contains no preservatives.

Directions for use

1. Open the bottle by removing the protective tab . Remove the cap. Squeeze the bottle whilst holding it upside down and allow 1–2 drops of Idroflog® to drip from the top into the conjunctival sac. Always close the bottle with the cap after use. Do not damage or dismantle the bottle, and do not mechanically block the hole in the dropper. Idroflog® can also be used whilst wearing contact lenses.
2. Idroflog® should be dosed individually according to your condition and as recommended by your ophthalmologist. Generally, 1–2 drops of the solution are instilled 2–4 times a day into the conjunctival sac of the eye to be treated. The total duration of treatment is 2–6 months; however, this must be determined by your ophthalmologist and carried out under their direct supervision (a follow-up examination every 30–45 days is recommended).
3. Precautions for use: Idroflog® is intended exclusively for external use. IDROFLOG should not be used immediately before the application of medicines for therapeutic purposes, nor within twenty minutes of the application of other topical medicines . If, during treatment, you notice a worsening of your eye symptoms, contact your doctor immediately. Prolonged use may cause problems: the total duration of treatment should be determined by your ophthalmologist. If an inflammatory process is already present, the specialist will decide on a suitable anti-inflammatory treatment to restore the physiological condition of the eye’s surface. To reduce the risk of contamination, each bottle must only be used by one person. Wash your hands thoroughly before use. Ensure that the tip of the dropper does not come into contact with your fingers, the eye, a contact lens or any other surface. Also, avoid the dropper coming into contact with dirt or dust.
