- Your eyes are dry and irritated and your eyelids are red and painful. You wake up in the morning with crusty eyelids. This could indicate meibomian gland dysfunction.
- The meibomian glands are located in the upper and lower eyelids and their outlets are located in the eyelid margins. These glands are responsible for the lipid phase of the tear film by secreting an oily secretion directly onto the eyelid margins. This renews the lipid phase every time the eye blinks, the purpose of which is to prevent premature evaporation and destabilisation of the tear. If the function of the meibomian glands is restricted or their outlets are blocked, a lipid phase disorder occurs. This results in dry eyes due to premature evaporation of the tears or watery eyes.

- Omega-3 stands for omega-3 fatty acids. They are a component of natural tears. Dry eyes are often associated with a lack of omega-3 in the tear film. The greater the omega-3 deficiency, the more severe the tear film disorder and the associated corneal damage2.
- EvoTears® OMEGA contains omega-3 fatty acids that are extracted from algae and not from fish. EvoTears® OMEGA is therefore also suitable for vegans.
- Thanks to the innovative substance perfluorohexyloctane, EvoTears® OMEGA is lipophilic and still has the same refractive index as tears. This means that vision is not impaired.
- Perfluorohexyloctane has other favourable properties that were previously unknown in dry eye therapy. EvoTears® OMEGA spreads very quickly and rapidly forms a protective coating over the tear. This counteracts premature evaporation. In addition, one drop is only approx. 10 µl in size and therefore up to 280 drops per 3 ml content can be taken from a bottle of EvoTears® OMEGA.
- EvoTears® OMEGA combines effective evaporation protection thanks to an innovative substance and the absence of water with omega-3 from algae to soothe irritated eyes and eyelid margins.
Dosage form
How to use
- Unless otherwise recommended by your doctor, drip 1 drop into the lower eyelid up to 4 times a day. As EvoTears® OMEGA is free from antimicrobial preservatives, you can use it daily.
- Due to its exceptional substance properties, EvoTears® OMEGA behaves differently to conventional eye drops. We therefore ask you to read these instructions carefully before use.
- Note: If you wear contact lenses, you should not useEvoTears® OMEGA as there is insufficient data on compatibility with contact lens materials.
- Unscrew the cap from the bottle.
- Before using EvoTears® OMEGA for the first time, unscrew the cap from the sealing ring and remove it.
- After removing the sealing cap, avoid any contact of the dropper tip with the skin, eye and eyelashes.
- To avoid loss of drops, please read points 5-6 before carrying out the steps.
- Hold the opened bottle with the dropper tip pointing upwards and squeeze it lightly with your thumb and index finger.
- Before bringing the bottle to the eye , turn the squeezed bottle with the dropper tip downwards and then immediately release the pressure. This causes some air to flow into the bottle. Continue to hold the bottle with the dropper tip pointing downwards.
- Tilt your head back slightly and carefully pull the lower eyelid away from the eye.
- Hold the inverted, open bottle vertically over the eye. Apply only one drop in each eye by pressing lightly on the bottle .Note: Due to the special nature of EvoTears® OMEGA, you may not feel the drop in your eye. In this case, we recommend applying the drops in front of a mirror.
- To distribute EvoTears® OMEGA evenly, closeyour eyes after use.
- Close the bottle with the cap after use . EvoTears® OMEGA can be used for 8 weeks after first opening. Please note the expiry date on the carton.
