- The eyes feel dry and are also irritated, or the eyelids are red and painful. You wake up in the morning with crusty eyelids. This could indicate Meibomian gland dysfunction.
- The Meibomian glands are located in the upper and lower eyelids, and their openings are situated at the edges of the eyelids. These glands are responsible for the lipid layer of the tear film by secreting an oily substance directly onto the eyelid margins. Thus, with every blink, the lipid layer is renewed; its role is to prevent premature evaporation and destabilisation of the tear film. If the function of the Meibomian glands is impaired or their ducts are blocked, this leads to a lipid layer disorder. This results in dry eyes, due to the premature evaporation of the tear film, or watery eyes.

- Omega-3 refers to omega-3 fatty acids. These are a component of natural tears. Dry eyes are often associated with a deficiency of omega-3 in the tear film. The greater the deficiency of omega-3, the more severe the tear film disorder and the associated corneal damage2.
- EvoTears® OMEGA contains omega-3 fatty acids derived from algae rather than fish. EvoTears® OMEGA is therefore also suitable for vegans.
- Thanks to the innovative substance perfluorohexyloctan, EvoTears® OMEGA is lipophilic yet still has the same refractive index as a tear. Consequently, vision is not impaired.
- Perfluorohexyloctan provides further beneficial properties previously unknown in the treatment of dry eye. EvoTears® OMEGA spreads very quickly and rapidly forms a protective film over the tear film. This helps to prevent premature evaporation. Furthermore, each drop is only approximately 10 µl in volume, meaning that up to 280 drops can be dispensed from a 3 ml bottle of EvoTears® OMEGA.
- EvoTears® OMEGA combines effective protection against evaporation, thanks to an innovative active ingredient, with a water-free formulation containing omega-3 from algae to soothe irritated eyes and eyelid margins.
Dosage form
Directions for use
- Unless otherwise recommended by your doctor, instil 1 drop into the lower eyelid up to 4 times a day . As EvoTears® OMEGA is free from antimicrobial preservatives, you can use it daily .
- Due to its unique properties, EvoTears® OMEGA behaves differently to conventional eye drops. We therefore ask you to read these instructions carefully before use.
- Note: If you wear contact lenses, you should not useEvoTears® OMEGA , as there is insufficient data on its compatibility with contact lens materials.
- Unscrew the cap from the bottle.
- Before using EvoTears® OMEGA for the first time , detach the cap from the sealing ring and remove the ring.
- Once the cap has been removed, avoid any contact between the dropper tip and your skin, eyes or eyelashes.
- To avoid wasting any drops, please read points 5–6 carefully before carrying out the steps.
- Hold the opened bottle with the dropper tip facing upwards and squeeze it gently between your thumb and forefinger.
- Before bringing the bottle close to your eye , turn the squeezed bottle so that the dropper tip is pointing downwards and then immediately release the pressure. This allows a little air to enter the bottle. Continue tohold the bottle with the dropper tip pointing downwards.
- Tilt your head back slightly and gently pull your lower eyelid away from your eye.
- Hold the inverted , open bottle vertically above the eye. Apply gentle pressure to the bottle to dispense just one drop into each eye. Note: Due to the special formulation of EvoTears® OMEGA, you may not feel the drop in your eye. In this case ,we recommend using the product in front of a mirror.
- To ensure even distribution of EvoTears® OMEGA , close your eyes after application.
- Re-cap the bottle with the cap after use . EvoTears® OMEGA can be used for 8 weeks after first opening . Please note the date of first use on the carton.
