Evaporative dry eyes

Evaporative dry eyes are caused by an unstable or deficient lipid phase of the tear film. This lipid phase disorder destabilises the tear and the resulting increased evaporation of the underlying aqueous phase leads to dry eyes. In almost 90 % of cases of dry eyes, an evaporative disorder is present1.

Tear substitutes are used as a basic therapy for dry eyes, whereby purely moisturising eye drops have no direct influence on the lipid phase disorder underlying evaporative dry eyes.

With EvoTears®, a new class of therapy is now available for the treatment of evaporative dry eyes.

EvoTears® is characterised by

1. PerfluorohexyloctaneThanks to the innovative substance perfluorohexyloctane, EvoTears® is lipophilic and still has the same refractive index as tears. Perfluorohexyloctane has other favourable properties that were previously unknown in dry eye therapy. EvoTears® spreads very quickly and rapidly forms a protective film over the tear. This counteracts premature evaporation. In addition, a drop is only approx. 10 µl in size and therefore up to 280 drops per 3 ml can be taken from a bottle of EvoTears®.
2. EvoTears® are the firstanhydrousdrops for the treatment of evaporative dry eyes, as they contain only the substance perfluorohexyloctane. This means that EvoTears® does not require any additives such as preservatives, phosphates or emulsifiers.

EvoTears® in the application

Due to its low surface tension, EvoTears® can be dispensed from the bottle without exerting pressure. The application method shown in the film is therefore recommended.

EvoTears® is the first anhydrous eye drop for the treatment of evaporative dry eyes. The effective evaporation protection creates satisfied patients.

How to use

Unless otherwise recommended by your doctor or pharmacist, drip 1 drop into the lower eyelid 4 times a day. If necessary, EvoTears® can be used daily. Due to its special properties, EvoTears® behaves differently to conventional eye drops when instilled. Therefore, please read these instructions carefully before use. 1. wash your hands before use. 2. unscrew the cap from the bottle and remove the sealing ring before first use. 3. after removing the cap, avoid touching the dropper tip. 4. Before bringing the bottle to the eye, please read points 5 and 6 first and then carry out these steps. 5. Hold the open bottle with the dropper tip pointing upwards and squeeze the bottle slightly. 6. Before bringing the bottle to the eye, turn the still squeezed bottle with the dropper tip downwards and then immediately release the pressure. Air flows through the liquid into the bottle. Leave the bottle in this position, i.e. with the dropper tip pointing downwards. 7. Tilt your head slightly backwards and carefully pull the lower eyelid slightly away from the eye. Look upwards as slightly as possible. 8. hold the inverted, open bottle vertically above your eye. Press lightly on the bottle and put one drop in each eye. Note: Due to the special nature of EvoTears®, you may not feel the drop in your eye. In this case, we recommend applying the drops in front of a mirror. 9. Do not touch the dropper tip with your eye or eyelashes during application. 10. Close your eyes after application to distribute EvoTears® evenly. 11. Close the bottle with the cap after use. EvoTears® can be used for 6 months after first opening.
