Chronically dry eyes are prone to inflammation

An intact tear film is the foundation of eye health. However, if the eyes are repeatedly or even permanently inadequately moistened and protected by the tear film, this leads to chronic dry eyes. In the long term, the conjunctiva and cornea dry out, which not only causes unpleasant symptoms such as itchy and burning eyes, but also increases the risk of inflammation. This can be caused by a disruption in tear film production, but also by an abnormal composition of the tears. If, for example, the lipid layer is deficient, the tear fluid does not adhere to the surface of the eye – and the eye becomes dry.

Intensive moisturisation prevents irritation

HYLO DUAL INTENSE® eye drops provide relief; thanks to their particularly high concentration of 0.2% long-chain hyaluronic acid, they are highly viscous and therefore remain on the surface of the eye for a long time. This provides the eye with a particularly intensive and long-lasting supply of a stable moisturising film. Hyaluronic acid is a natural component of the body, characterised by its exceptionally high water-binding capacity. At the same time, the drops reduce friction between the eyelid and the cornea, which prevents further irritation of the eye and leaves the eye feeling comfortable.

HYLO DUAL INTENSE® for moderate to severe forms of dry eye

• Dry eyes are very common nowadays and affect around one in five adults. Exposure to environmental irritants, prolonged screen time, allergies and general eye strain often result in a persistent lubrication disorder, in which the eye no longer produces sufficient tears.
• In moderate to severe forms of dry eye, the tear film is often unstable, leading to persistent or more severe discomfort caused by inflammatory symptoms such as itching, a burning sensation, watering or redness of the eyes. These symptoms can only be alleviated through intensive moisturisation and sustained lubrication of the ocular surface, which can be achieved through the combination of hyaluronic acid and ectoine. The aim of this dual-action principle is to stabilise the tear film and provide long-term protection for the eye.

Hyaluronic acid and ectoine – the dual mechanism of action

Hyaluronic acid moisturises and protects The high quality of the hyaluronic acid used in HYLO EYE CARE® products ensures uniform, stable and particularly long-lasting moisturisation of the eye’s surface. HYLO DUAL INTENSE® contains a particularly high concentration of hyaluronic acid (0.2 per cent); it is highly viscous and can alleviate chronic symptoms, thereby providing long-term protection for the eye against irritation. Thanks to this moisturising effect, foreign bodies and irritants from the environment no longer penetrate the cornea as easily, thereby reducing the risk of inflammation.

Ectoin stabilises and soothes

The natural substance ectoine also helps to stabilise the lipid phase of the tear film and prevents excessive evaporation of the tear fluid and the eye from drying out. This natural substance is derived from microorganisms that live in extreme conditions and protect themselves from drying out in highly saline waters by producing ectoine. This ingredient increases water retention in the cells of the eye’s surface. At the same time, ectoine soothes stressed tissue and alleviates typical inflammatory symptoms such as a burning sensation, itching and a feeling of a foreign body in the eye.

Directions for use

1. Remove the cap before each use. To do this, hold the cap firmly just above the bottle and, with your other hand, twist the bottle away from the cap. Before using HYLO DUAL INTENSE® for the first time, hold the bottle with the dropper tip pointing straight down and press the base of the bottle repeatedly until the first drop emerges from the tip. The bottle is then ready for subsequent use.
2. Hold the bottle with the dropper tip pointing downwards by placing your thumb on the shoulder of the bottle and your other fingers on the base of the bottle.
3. Rest the hand holding the COMOD® bottle on your free hand as shown.
4. Tilt your head back slightly, use your free hand to gently pull your lower eyelid away from your eye, and press quickly and firmly on the centre of the base of the bottle. This activates the mechanism for dispensing a drop. Thanks to the COMOD® system’s special valve technology, the size and speed of the drop remain consistent even when very firm pressure is applied to the base of the bottle. Slowly close your eyes to allow the liquid to spread evenly across the surface of the eye.
5. After use, carefully replace the cap on the dropper tip immediately. Please ensure that the dropper tip is dry. When administering the drops, avoid the dropper tip coming into contact with your eye or facial skin.

Notes: 10 ml of solution can be dispensed from the bottle; this corresponds to approximately 300 drops. For technical reasons relating to the manufacturing process, a small amount of liquid always remains in the bottle. There is no limit to the duration of use of HYLO DUAL INTENSE®. The contents of a single bottle of HYLO DUAL INTENSE® should always be used to treat the same person.
