Gaviscon® Strawberry Chewable Tablets, 24 ST

This medicine belongs to the group of medicines known as "reflux suppressants", which form a protective barrier over the stomach contents. This prevents the stomach acid needed in the stomach from rising into the oesophagus and causing pain and discomfort.

Gaviscon Strawberry Chewable Tablets are used to treat symptoms of gastro-oesophageal reflux such as acid regurgitation, heartburn and indigestion (due to reflux), which can occur after meals or during pregnancy, for example, or in patients with symptoms associated with oesophagitis.

When aggressive stomach acid rises unhindered into the oesophagus, heartburn and stomach pressure are the typical consequences. With Gaviscon you can quickly get these symptoms under control. The unique protective barrier is based on the main plant-based active ingredient alginate - an extract from brown algae. Alginate reacts with stomach acid and forms a protective barrier that covers the stomach contents like a lid. This physically prevents the further reflux of stomach acid into the oesophagus - heartburn and acid regurgitation are alleviated.

Gaviscon contains vegetable alginate and thus forms an extra strong protective barrier against acid regurgitation. It is therefore particularly suitable for use with severe symptoms, e.g. during pregnancy or with nocturnal reflux.

• Adults and children aged 12 and over: 10 - 20ml or 2 - 4 tablets after a meal and before going to bed (up to 4 times a day).
• Route of administration: Oral use. Chew carefully before swallowing.
• Duration of use: If you do not feel better or even worse after 7 days, consult your doctor.

Ingredients

• The active ingredients are: 250 mg sodium alginate, 133.5 mg sodium hydrogen carbonate and 80 mg calcium carbonate per chewable tablet.
• The other ingredients are: Mannitol (E 421), macrogol 20,000, aspartame (E 951), strawberry flavouring (maltodextrin, starch E1450, vegetable oil, propylene glycol E1520), iron oxide red (E 172), xylitol, carmellose sodium, magnesium stearate.
