Gaviscon® Liquid Sachets Mint Oral Suspension, 24 ST

Gaviscon® Liquid Sachets Mint Oral Suspension forms a purely physical barrier over the contents of the stomach. This effectively prevents the backflow of stomach acid into the oesophagus.

Gaviscon Liquid Sachets Mint belongs to a group of medicines known as ‘reflux suppressants’, which form a protective barrier over the stomach contents for up to 4 hours, thereby preventing stomach acid from rising from the stomach into the oesophagus and causing pain and discomfort there. 

This medicine is used to treat symptoms of gastro-oesophageal reflux, such as acid regurgitation, heartburn and indigestion (resulting from reflux), e.g. after meals, during pregnancy, or in patients with symptoms associated with oesophagitis caused by reflux.

When aggressive stomach acid rises unhindered into the oesophagus, heartburn and stomach pressure are the typical consequences. With Gaviscon, you can quickly get these symptoms under control. The unique protective barrier is based on the plant-derived active ingredient alginate – an extract from brown seaweed. Alginate reacts with stomach acid to form a protective barrier that acts like a lid over the stomach’s contents. This physically prevents further reflux of stomach acid into the oesophagus – thereby relieving heartburn and acid regurgitation. 

Gaviscon contains plant-based alginate and thus forms an extra-strong protective barrier against acid reflux. It is therefore particularly suitable for use in cases of more severe symptoms, e.g. during pregnancy or in cases of night-time reflux.

Directions for use

• Adults and children aged 12 and over: 1–2 sachets after meals and before going to bed (up to 4 times a day).
• Children under 12 years of age: Should be administered following consultation with a doctor.
• Duration of use: If there is no improvement in symptoms after seven days, a doctor should be consulted.

Ingredients

• What Gaviscon Liquid Mint Sachets contain: 10 ml of oral suspension, the contents of one sachet, contain 500 mg of sodium alginate, 267 mg of sodium bicarbonate and 160 mg of calcium carbonate as active ingredients. 
• The other ingredients are carbomer, methyl (E218) and propyl (E216) (4-hydroxybenzoate), sodium saccharin, sodium hydroxide, natural mint flavouring and purified water. 
• This medicinal product is free from sugar and colourings.
