The common wolf's bane (Lycopus europaeus) belongs to the Lamiaceae family. The most important ingredient in wolf's bane is lithospermic acid. The active ingredient also contains hydroxycinnamic and caffeic acid derivatives, flavonoids, fluorides and essential oils. It is said that wolf's bane can help to reduce thyroid levels in cases of mild hyperthyroidism with accompanying symptoms such as nervousness and palpitations.
