Citrus root, also known as white curcuma (Curcuma zedoaria), is a plant species from the genus Curcuma in the ginger family (Zingiberaceae). Originating from India, the saffron root species is particularly popular as a medicinal plant in East Asia, where it grows in the tropical rainforest regions. The rhizome of the citrus root is large and branched, the leaves can grow up to one metre long and the flowers have an intense scent. It is known that citrus root is often used to treat stomach, gall bladder and liver complaints.
