Kamillosan liquid is a traditional herbal medicine for use on the skin (including as a bath additive), in the mouth, for inhalation and for oral use.
Kamillosan is a liquid used to prepare a solution for application to the skin, the throat and the mouth, for oral use or as a liquid for inhalation.
- For external use: for inflammation in the mouth and throat, ulcers of the oral mucosa, inflammation of the tongue or throat, tonsillitis, pressure sores under dentures, gingivitis with slightly bleeding gums, and mouth ulcers. (For use as a gargle or rinse, or undiluted for application with a brush), for itchy skin, inflammation, abscesses, boils, infected wounds and burns (as compresses or rinses), for anal fissures, anal eczema, haemorrhoids, and for gynaecological conditions (as a sitz bath or partial bath), for infants with sensitive skin and sore patches in the nappy area (as a baby bath), for inflammatory genital conditions, such as vaginitis with itching or discharge (as a vaginal rinse or sitz bath), for the common cold or sinusitis (used as an inhalation), to support the local treatment of acne (as a facial steam bath).
- For internal use: for cramps of the abdominal organs and as an adjunct in cases of inflammation or ulcers of the stomach or duodenum, gallbladder disorders, and intestinal irritation; during and following prolonged fasting.
For use on the skin
- for the treatment of mild skin inflammation (sunburn) (as a wash, compress or partial bath)
- for superficial wounds and boils (as a wash, compress or sitz bath)
- as a supportive treatment for irritation of the skin and mucous membranes in the genital region (as a compress, for rinsing or as a sitz bath)
For use in the oral cavity
for inflammation in the oral cavity, such as:
- inflammation of the oral mucosa (aphthous stomatitis),
- inflammation of the tongue (glossitis),
- pressure sores under dentures,
- periodontitis with slightly bleeding gums,
- inflammation of the periodontium (periodontitis).
For inhalation
- for colds (as steam inhalation)
For oral use
- for gastrointestinal complaints such as: bloating and flatulence.
This medicine is a traditional herbal medicine registered solely on the basis of long-standing use for the indicated conditions . Kamillosan is intended for use in adults and young people aged 12 years and over. If you do not feel better or if your condition worsens after 5 days, consult your doctor.

Directions for use
The recommended dose for adults and adolescents aged 12 years and over is:
For application to the skin
- For compresses, washes and rinses: 15–30 ml per 1 litre of water, once or several times a day.
- For sitz baths and partial baths: 15 ml per 1 litre of water, once or several times a day.
For use in the mouth
- For mouthwash: dilute 5 ml of Kamillosan in a glass of water and rinse the mouthonce or several times a day.
- For application with a cotton bud: Applyundiluted Kamillosan to the affected areausing a cotton bud, once or several times a day .
For inhalation
- 15 ml to ½ litre of hot water, 1 to 3 times a day.
For oral use
- Take 5 ml of Kamillosan diluted in a cup of warm water 1 to 4 times a day. A suitable measuring cup is provided.
Use in children: Use in children under 12 years of age is not recommended due to a lack of data.
Method of use:
- For use on the skin: Dilute Kamillosan with water or add it to bath water.
- For use in the mouth: For rinsing: Dilute Kamillosan in a glass of water.
- For application with a cotton bud: Apply undiluted using a cotton bud.
- For inhalation: Dilute Kamillosan with water.
- For oral use: Take Kamillosan diluted in a cup of warm water.
Duration of use:
- If you do not feel any better or actually feel worse after 5 days, consult your doctor.
Ingredients
The active ingredients are: 100 g contains 100 g of liquid extract from a mixture of flower heads (chamomile flowers, Matricariae flos) and ray florets of common chamomile (Matricaria recutita) in a ratio of 4.7:1, drug-to-extract ratio (DEV) 1:4.0–4.5; extraction solvents per 100 g: 40.08 g of 96% (v/v) ethanol , 57.69 g of purified water, 1.36 g of sodium acetate trihydrate, 0.45 g of sodium ascorbate and 0.41 g of sodium hydroxide.
The other ingredients are: sodium acetate trihydrate, sodium hydroxide, sodium L-(+)ascorbate, ethanol, water.
