- Collagen is the most abundant protein in the body, accounting for 30 per cent of the total. As a so-called structural protein, the body's own collagen - similar to a scaffold - provides support for bones, joints, muscles and tendons. It also ensures the elasticity of skin and connective tissue. The body constantly produces its own collagen, mainly from the amino acids glycine, proline and hydroxyproline.
- However, collagen production decreases with increasing age. As a result, the skin becomes increasingly wrinkled, muscles lose elasticity, tendons become less flexible, bones become brittle and joints develop problems. This is especially true when joints have to be immobilised for long periods of time due to injuries: This leads to a shortening of the collagen fibres of the capsular ligament apparatus. As soon as the joint is moved and loaded again, the fibres lengthen again, as the mechanical load on the connective tissue increases its collagen content.
- At less than 10,000 g/mol, the individual molecules of collagen peptides are lighter than gelatine molecules. They are also very soluble in water and do not form a gel even in a highly concentrated solution.
- A hydrolysis process takes place during the production of collagen for use in cosmetics or food supplements. It can then be better processed by the body in order to work effectively. Collagen peptides and hydrolysed collagen both describe the same end result of this process.

guter Kauf
Habe dieses Kollagenpulver bestellt, weil man im Gegensatz zu anderen Produkten nur 2,5 g/Tag einnehmen muss. Der Preis war auch top und die Lieferung erfolgte - obwohl mir 7-14 Tagen angegeben - innerhalb von 2 Werktagen. Alles in allem bin ich äußerst zufrieden und werde sicher wieder bestellen.
