Betadona® liquid soap, 120 ML

Betadona® liquid soap is the right choice for hygienic hand disinfection and antiseptic washing. It has a comprehensive germicidal effect against bacteria, fungi, spores, viruses and protozoa. Betadona liquid soap reliably cleanses the skin and moisturises it with lipid-replenishing ingredients.

What is Betadona® liquid soap and what is it used for?

Povidone-iodine has a comprehensive germicidal effect. It is effective against bacteria, fungi, spores, viruses and protozoa. Due to its mode of action, resistance (resistance of infectious agents) to povidone-iodine is not to be feared. By binding to povidone, the iodine largely loses the irritating properties of alcoholic iodine preparations and is well tolerated by the skin. The iodine discolours during the action process, the depth of the brown colouring therefore indicates its effectiveness. Betadona® liquid soap contains skin-caring refatting components.

Directions for use

Always use this medicine exactly as described in this package leaflet or exactly as advised by your doctor or pharmacist. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

The recommended dose is

Surgical hand disinfection: Moisten hands and forearms well with water. Apply about 5 ml Betadona® liquid soap to the hand and rub well over hands and forearms for 2.5 minutes. If necessary, a brush can be used, especially for cleaning nails. If necessary, add water to create plenty of foam. Then rinse off under running water. Repeat this washing process.

Hygienic hand disinfection: rub about 5 ml Betadona® liquid soap onto moistened hands for 1 minute. (A little water can be added to improve foaming.) Then rinse under running water.

Antiseptic washes: Moisten skin well with water. Apply Betadona® liquid soap (1 ml is sufficient for an area of approx. 20 cm²) and create a golden-yellow foam by rubbing, adding water if necessary; then rinse off.

Disinfection of the surgical field:

1. Proceed as under "Antiseptic washes", but apply for 5 minutes and wash off using a sterile gauze or gauze strip soaked in water.
2. Apply Betaisodona® solution standardised (not identical to Betadona® liquid soap) to the cleaned area until the surgical field is evenly coloured brown and allow to dry.

If discolouration occurs, reapplication is necessary.

When preparing for surgery, accumulations of Betaisodona® solution (not identical to Betadona® liquid soap) under the patient must be avoided (due to possible skin irritation caused by prolonged contact). Furthermore, accumulation can lead to skin burns.

Betadona® Liquid Soap is intended for external use on the skin.

Betadona® Liquid Soap contains 7.5 g povidone-iodine complex, total content: 0.75 % available iodine.
