This medicine is used in adults, adolescents and children from 1 year of age. Use in children under 1 year of age is only recommended by a doctor. If you do not feel better or even worse after 4 weeks, consult your doctor.

How does Balneum Hermal bath additive work?

• Balneum Hermal bath additive causes an oil film to form on the skin in a pleasant way. This serves as a temporary protective layer until the skin's natural moisturising layer is restored. The release of natural moisturising factors from the uppermost skin layer during bathing is reduced. The same applies to the increased evaporation of water in these skin conditions, which contributes to the development of dry skin. This has a favourable effect on skin elasticity.
• The emulsifiers (substances that guarantee a fine distribution of the active ingredient) and the high proportion of unsaturated fatty acids also have an antipruritic, anti-dandruff and to a certain extent germ-inhibiting effect.

When do you use Balneum Hermal bath additive?

Balneum Hermal Bath Additive is used for the supportive treatment of skin conditions with dry and slightly itchy skin such as

• atopic eczema (neurodermatitis)
• Fish scale disease (ichthyosis)
• "Age-related itching" (pruritus senilis)
• Eczema such as nappy rash, wasch eczema, chronic eczema.

Balneum Hermal - Bath Additive must not be used if:

• You are allergic (hypersensitive) to refined soya oil, soya, peanut or any of the other ingredients of this medicine listed in section 6.
• In fresh purulent forms of psoriasis (pustular psoriasis, psoriasis with pustules, sometimes with fever and impaired general condition).

Directions for use

• Adults and adolescents aged 12 and over: for a full bath (approx. 150 litres) use two measuring cups (30 ml) for a partial bath (5 litres) use approx. 1/4 teaspoon (1 ml).
• Children from 1 to 11 years: use 1/3 measuring cup (5 ml) for a children's bath (approx. 25 litres). Children under 1 year of age should only use the product as recommended by a doctor.
• Use on children: Use on children under 1 year of age only as recommended by a doctor.
• The inner part of the screw cap can beused as a measuring cupto measure the required amount.
• Method of application: For use on the skin. Balneum Hermal bath additive is added to the bath water and mixed in well until it is evenly distributed. The bath water temperature should not significantly exceed 36 °C, as the moisturising effect slowly diminishes at higher temperatures. To treat itching, the temperature should be 32 °C or as low as is comfortable. The duration of the bath should be determined individually, but should not exceed 15-20 minutes. For children, a duration of only a few minutes is usually sufficient. The frequency of use depends on the type and extent of the symptoms. In general, baths are recommended every 2-3 days. Daily bathing is also possible. Balneum Hermal bath additive can also be used for showering. The product is applied undiluted to the moistened skin and then showered off. After bathing or showering, only dab the skin lightly with a towel. Drying and rubbing the skin vigorously reduces the effect of the treatment.

Ingredients

• The active ingredient is refined soya oil. 100 g contain: 84.75 g refined soya oil.
• The other ingredients are Butylhydroxytoluene (E 321), palmitoyl ascorbic acid, macrogollauryl ether 400, citric acid monohydrate, propylene glycol, oleic acid diethanolamide, fragrance (contains D-limonene, linalool).
