- Cholesterol is produced in the liver and is a component of every cell in the body. In addition to the amount of cholesterol produced in the body, cholesterol can also be supplied externally through food. Triglycerides are mainly absorbed through food, but a small amount is also produced when carbohydrates are broken down in the liver.
- Cholesterol and triglycerides can be positively influenced by a healthy lifestyle (including physical activity, avoidance of alcohol, nicotine and stress) and a balanced diet.
- Red ye astrice is produced by fermenting rice (Oryza sativa) with Monascus purpureus, a type of yeast. Red yeast rice contains monacolin K.
- Berberis aristata: Berberine dry extract is obtained from the bark of Berberis aristata, a species of barberry common in the Himalayas and Nepal. The extract contains a standardised amount of berberine. Berberine has a positive effect on the cholesterol and triglyceride levels in the blood and thus supports the functionality of the cardiovascular system.
- Policosanol is a mixture of natural fatty alcohols found in sugar cane wax (Saccharum officinarum), rice bran (Oryza sativa) or beeswax (Cera flava).
- Folic acid contributes to the normal breakdown of homocysteine. Homocysteine is a substance that the organism forms when the amino acid methionine is broken down. Methionine is ingested with food. The homocysteine formed by the breakdown is then converted back into methionine with the help of folic acid. ArmoLIPID® PLUS contains the recommended daily requirement of folic acid.
- Coenzyme Q10 is contained in many foods and can basically be produced by all body cells, although this ability can decrease with increasing age.
- Astaxanthin is produced by the microalgae Haematococcus pluvialis and plays an important role in oxidation/reduction reactions.
