When is Genericon ASA used?

Directions for use
Adults and adolescents from 12 years of age
- Single dose: 1-2 tablets (corresponding to 500 mg-1000 mg acetylsalicylic acid).
- Daily dose: 3 to a maximum of 6 tablets (corresponding to 1500-3000 mg acetylsalicylic acid).
- The maximum daily dose of 6 tablets (corresponding to 3000 mg acetylsalicylic acid) must not be exceeded.
- The break notch is only used to divide the tablet for easier swallowing and not to divide it into equal doses.
- Use in children under 12 years of age: Medicines containing acetylsalicylic acid (ASA) may only be given to children under 12 years of age with a doctor's prescription. Paediatric doses are not possible with this formulation of ASA. If it is necessary to administer Genericon ASA to children under 12 years of age, it is therefore advisable to use a speciality medicinal product that allows an adjusted dosage.
- Route of administration: Oral use. Please take the tablets with plenty of liquid (e.g. a glass of water). This promotes the onset of action. To make swallowing easier, you can also dissolve the tablets on a spoon in a little water and take them. Please drink plenty of liquid. Do not take on an empty stomach.
- Duration of use: If necessary, the single dose can be taken at intervals of 4-8 hours up to 3 times a day. However, the maximum total daily dose of 6 tablets must not be exceeded. Genericon ASA must not be taken for longer than 3-4 days for pain and for longer than 3 days for fever without a doctor's prescription. If pain or fever persists or even worsens during this time, if new symptoms occur (e.g. redness or swelling), you must consult your doctor, as these may be signs of a serious illness.
