Areas of application

octenisan® md nasal gel is used to moisturise, cleanse and decontaminate the nasal vestibules. It provides the nasal vestibules with sufficient moisture when the nose dries out due to external influences and thus prevents irritation. Through this moisturisation, the hydrogel promotes the maintenance of the physiological environment and thus prevents the colonisation of bacteria. Furthermore, the restoration of the physiological protective and cleansing function contributes to effective MRE decontamination.

Lesions of the nasal epithelium are also moisturised by the hydrogel and can therefore heal optimally. This is because the epithelial cells must be able to divide and migrate for the healing process. This is best possible in a moist wound environment.

Special instructions

The medical device octenisan® md nasal gel must not be used in the case of known allergies or suspected allergies to one of the ingredients (propylene glycol, hydroxyethyl cellulose, octenidine dihydrochloride). If in doubt, consult a doctor.

Do not use in combination with cleansing soaps, ointments, oils, enzymes or similar, as this may impair preservation. Do not use in combination with PVP iodine, as this can lead to discolouration and reduce the antiseptic effect of the PVP iodine.

Do not use the medical device octenisan® md nasal gel continuously for longer than 2 weeks without medical supervision. To prevent possible tissue damage, octenisan® md Nasal Gel must not be used on cartilage, in the eye or ear and must not get too deep into the nose! Do not use for infusion or injection! Do not ingest! Only use undamaged and undamaged containers.

Store the tube at room temperature and protect it from direct sunlight.

Directions for use

Unless otherwise prescribed, use the medical device octenisan® md nasal gel 2-3 times a day as required. The medical device octenisan® md nasal gel is intended exclusively for use in the nasal vestibules. Apply a sufficient amount of the gel to the front area of the nose (nasal vestibules), e.g. using a cotton swab, so that the surface is completely wetted. To do this, the medical device octenisan® md nasal gel is inserted into the nostril/each nostril, the nose is closed by squeezing the sides of the nostrils together and then massaged between the thumb and finger. This ensures even distribution of the gel. If necessary, the nose should be thoroughly cleaned beforehand with a wet cotton swab. Excess gel is removed with a swab. Care should be taken to ensure that a moisturising film remains. To prevent the spread of germs, avoid direct contact with the tube opening.

Not suitable for children under 1 year of age.
