Product properties

Wetting behaviour octenilin® wound irrigation solution has very good wetting properties due to its low surface tension and therefore has excellent cleaning properties, even on surfaces that are difficult to access, such as rhagades, fissures and in wound pockets.

Cleaning performance against biofilms

octenilin® wound irrigation solution dissolves biofilms and the microorganisms they contain and leads to a significant reduction of germs in the wound.

Preservation

octenilin® wound irrigation solution is preserved in such a way that the risk of spreading germs to the wider environment during application is significantly reduced. octenilin® wound irrigation solution thus provides an effective germ barrier between the wound and the person being treated when used as intended.

Tissue compatibility and biocompatibility

Non-irritating, non-sensitising, painless, no tissue toxicity with inhibition of granulation and epithelialisation. The good tissue compatibility of octenidine has been proven by many years of clinical experience and clinical studies on chronic wounds.

How to use

Intensively rinse and clean the wound with octenilin® wound irrigation solution each time the dressing is changed (octenilin® wound irrigation solution can be warmed to body temperature immediately before use). Easily detachable wound coatings can already be removed in this way. To dissolve fibrin coatings, dressings or wound dressings soaked in octenilin® wound irrigation solution can also be used. The product can be warmed to body temperature (possibly in a water bath). Rinsing is generally not necessary. If necessary, the wound can be treated further with octenilin® wound gel. In case of instillation in combination with a negative pressure therapy device, do not use on body cavities. Shelf life 8 weeks after opening.
