Product information "easygastril chewable tablets"
easygastril® chewable tablets are a medical device for the prevention and treatment of symptoms associated with heartburn, acid regurgitation and laryngopharyngeal reflux, in cases of stomach acidity, and for the protection of the stomach lining.
easygastril® offers a comprehensive solution for heartburn and hyperacidity thanks to its four-fold action. The unique combination with tamarind improves adhesion to the mucous membrane and provides enhanced protection from the throat right down to the stomach!
easygastril® contains sodium alginate, calcium carbonate, potassium bicarbonate and Tamarindus indica seed extract.
Mechanism of action
- The adhesive properties of tamarind seeds on the mucous membrane (mucoadhesiveness) help to protect the mucous membranes of the gastrointestinal tract from the throat (pharynx) to the stomach. The preparation adheres to the mucous membrane, forming a barrier there and thereby alleviating the symptoms of reflux from the stomach into the oesophagus or the lower throat (gastro-oesophageal or laryngopharyngeal reflux).
- Alginate is a polysaccharide isolated from certain types of seaweed; upon reaching the stomach, this fibre very quickly forms a viscous, light gel that coats and protects the gastric mucosa. The viscous alginate gel also hinders the upward movement of stomach contents, thereby significantly reducing the number of reflux episodes.
- The carbonate and bicarbonate compounds neutralise stomach acid. Furthermore, the carbon dioxide bubbles produced during the reaction are bound by the alginate gel; this creates a foam that floats on the surface of the gastric juice. In the event of reflux, the foam that then enters the oesophagus consists mainly of alginate, which physically protects the mucous membrane from damage caused by contact with acids and digestive enzymes. The foam remains in the stomach until gastric digestion is complete, after which it passes into the small intestine along with the rest of the stomach contents. Furthermore, the mucoadhesive properties of tamarind seeds help to protect the gastric mucosa.
