How W-Tropfen® work
- The tried-and-tested combination of active ingredients in W-Tropfen® – salicylic acid and lactic acid – softens the calloused skin, making it easier to remove. The two substances act synergistically; that is, they enhance each other’s effects and thus achieve a better result than when used individually.
- Due to its keratolytic effect, salicylic acid is classified among the active ingredient groups of topical treatments for psoriasis and conditions involving abnormal keratinisation. By dissolving clusters of keratinocytes, it causes the skin to shed, which improves skin nutrition and blood supply. The separation of keratinocytes from one another occurs because salicylic acid dissolves the small structures in the keratinocyte wall that bind the cells together.
- Furthermore, salicylic acid is an analgesic, anti-inflammatory and blood-thinning agent which, through its enzymes, has a disinfecting effect on the skin. Due to its poor gastrointestinal tolerability, it can only be used externally. Even so, it helps to relieve swelling, redness and pain in the damaged tissue.
- Lactic acid increases the moisture content and elasticity of the stratum corneum and has a mild protein-precipitating effect. It thus counteracts excessive stratum corneum formation and is therefore classified as a keratolytic agent.

Usage
- W-drops are intended for use in adults and young people aged 12 and over. W-drops should only be applied to the affected areas once daily, preferably before bedtime.
- Method of use: For use on the skin. Before first use, soak the affected area in warm water and dry thoroughly. Apply a small amount of Vaseline to the healthy skin surrounding the corn or callus. Apply a thin layer of W-Drops directly to the corn or callus. Then wait until the applied layer has dried. Repeat this process 3 to 4 times until a firm layer forms which does not shift, does not press against the skin, does not cause discomfort when walking and does not stain tights/socks or bed linen. In the case of calluses, only a small area, with a maximum diameter of 2 cm, should be treated at a time.
- Duration of treatment: 4 to 6 days After regular use, the softened callus can be removed following a warm bath. If the callus cannot be removed completely, the treatment must be repeated (as described above). W Drops can be easily removed from clothing using acetone.
- Use in children: W-Drops must not be used on infants and young children under 2 years of age. Use in children aged 2–12 years is not recommended due to a lack of sufficient data.
