Vitaworld Vitamin D3 1000 I.U. Tablets are a food supplement containing vitamin D3 to support normal bone and muscle function.

Vitamin D is also known as the sun vitamin because the body can produce it itself - through exposure to sunlight - and belongs to the group of fat-soluble vitamins. As these are absorbed together with fats, the simultaneous intake of fat can increase the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins. However, this also means that in people who eat a very low-fat diet, only small amounts of this vitamin enter the organism.

However, a balanced vitamin D content in the body is important, as vitamin D is irreplaceable in numerous metabolic processes. However, it must first be converted into a usable form, known as calcitriol (1,25-dihydroxycholecalciferol), in the skin, liver and kidneys. This vitamin D hormone is primarily required in the intestines and kidneys as well as in bones, muscles and nerves. It influences the calcium and phosphate balance and ensures sufficient absorption and storage of calcium. The prohormone also plays an important role in numerous other biological processes, particularly in connection with the immune system.

Vitamin D therefore has numerous central functions in the body, and people who consume little fat in particular should pay attention to their vitamin D balance.
