Vitalworld Cardoon Root Extract 500 mg capsules are a dietary supplement containing cardoon root extract from the wild cardoon.

The wild teasel, which can grow up to 2 metres tall, belongs to the honeysuckle family and is known by many different names (e.g. everthirst, hedgehog's head or weaver's thistle). The natural distribution area of the plant is in the Mediterranean region, but it has also been found in most German states for a long time.

People have always known how to utilise the parts of the thistle-like plant. Before industrialisation, for example, the flower heads of various types of teasel (especially the weaver's teasel but also the wild teasel) were used to comb unspun wool.

Today, wild teasel is mainly used in the kitchen, in the garden and in naturopathy. In naturopathy, the root in particular is used as it contains many important ingredients such as organic acids, caffeic acid compounds, glycosides, scabiosides, terpenes and saponins.
