The active ingredient dequalinium chloride contained in Tonsillol gargle solution is a quaternaryammonium compound with surface-active properties. Dequalinium chloride acts on numerous pathogens, but mainly on gram-positive bacteria by destroying their cell wall and inactivating the enzymes by adhering to the bacterial cell wall.
The effect is seen in a change in the permeability of the cell membranes of the germs. In higher concentrations, dequalinium chloride has a germicidal effect.
Tonsillol gargle solution is used
- for infectious diseasesof the mouth and throat caused by pathogens sensitive to dequalinium chloride, such as gingivitis, inflammation of the oral mucosa, tonsillitis, laryngitis, pharyngitis
- for purulent angina as an additional medication
- for oral thrush (fungal infestation)
Tonsillol gargle solution can be used after tonsil operations and tooth extractions topromote complication-free healing.
