What is herpes labialis?
- Herpes labialis is a herpes simplex virus infection that appears as a collection of skin blisters on the lips. These skin blisters are also known as "cold sores".
What are the symptoms of herpes labialis?
- The first symptoms are a warm, tingling sensation on the lip and the appearance of reddish patches. Within a few hours, fluid-filled blisters begin to form. Fever blisters can be triggered by poor immunity, fever, menstruation, stress, strong sunlight or the consumption of certain foods. Cold sores can occur repeatedly, as the virus lives on in the body after the initial infection and can be reactivated by the above-mentioned triggers.
How does Erapatch work?
- The soft polyurethane disc of the patch contains a hypoallergenic adhesive to which hyaluronic acid is added. Hyaluronic acid has the ability to retain large amounts of water, which creates moisture under the plaster and promotes wound healing and relieves itching for 12 hours. The plaster also forms a protective barrier against environmental influences. This reduces the risk of infection and protects the skin from scarring.
When should ERAPATCH be used?
- ERAPATCH can be used at any stage of a cold sore outbreak. It is particularly useful to use ERAPATCH if you have missed the opportunity to use an antiviral cold sore cream such as ERAZABAN®. This is the case when clear blisters are already visible (usually from the 2nd or 3rd day after the first signs). Using the plaster reduces the risk of infection and scratching of the blisters. Pain, itching and a feeling of tightness are reduced.
How long should ERAPATCH be used?
- Ideally, ERAPATCH should be used around the clock until the cold sores have healed. The plaster usually comes off after about 12 hours and should then be replaced with a new plaster.
Is ERAPATCH kind to the skin?
- ERAPATCH is dermatologically tested, hypoallergenic and can therefore also be used on sensitive skin.
Can I apply make-up over ERAPTACH?
- ERAPATCH can be covered with lipstick or make-up, making the barely visible plaster almost invisible.
