Each chewable tablet contains 500 mg of hydrotalcite, a substance classified as a non-systemic antacid. Talcid® restores normal acidity levels for a prolonged period by rapidly and persistently binding excess stomach acid.
Talcid very quickly adjusts the acid environment in the stomach to the optimal range for treatment (pH 3–5) and maintains this for up to 1½ hours. Its long-lasting effect is attributable to Talcid’s layered lattice structure.

Indications
For the symptomatic treatment of conditions in adults and adolescents where gastric acid needs to be neutralised (e.g. heartburn and other gastric complaints caused by gastric acid, or gastric and duodenal ulcers, following consultation with the treating doctor).

Directions for use
- For heartburn and other stomach complaints caused by stomach acid: 1–2 chewable tablets as required.
- Stomach and duodenal ulcers: 2 chewable tablets 3–4 times a day, 1–2 hours after a meal and before going to bed.
Treatment should be continued for at least a further 4 weeks after the symptoms have subsided. A total daily dose of 12 chewable tablets must not be exceeded.
