You can’t go wrong with this ‘fake coffee’ at any time of the day or night, as this bean-free, caffeine-free hot drink is guaranteed not to give you a jolt. The version made from 100% roasted dandelion roots has a pleasant malty and sweet flavour. Your granny might still know this coffee alternative as ‘Muckefuck’. Rumour has it that the word dates back to the post-war period, when the French liked to drink ‘Mocca faux’, meaning ‘fake coffee’.
This plant-based coffee alternative is also caffeine-free, gluten-free, gentle on the stomach and easy to digest. And thanks to the bitter compounds and roasted flavours it contains, it’s still invigorating. Directions for use
- We recommend: 1 – max. 2 tsp per serving (200 ml); suitable for mocha, French press, pour-over and filter coffee machines.
- Traditional preparation: Place the desired amount in a tea filter and bring to the boil in a saucepan. Leave to infuse for 5–10 mins.
- TIP: Tastes good with (plant-based) milk.
