Blue mallow - known as cheese poplar in Austria - is just the right herb when the frog is stuck in your throat. Dewy and tart, this tea goes wonderfully with Japanese and lamb stew. The cheese poplar or wild mallow has nothing to do with the poplar. Its flowers ripen into cheese-like fruits, which were used in folk medicine to prepare a "Papperl", i.e. an invigorating porridge to replenish the body. So the name is no coincidence.
