Seewald Ortho Vitamin D3 2000 IU + K2 Liquid Drops are a food supplement containing a valuable combination of vitamin D3 (2000 IU) and the co-factor vitamin K2 (MK7).
Vitamin D supports the immune system and helps maintain normal bones and teeth, whilst vitamin K2 also plays an essential role in maintaining normal bones and supports normal blood clotting.

Vitamins D and K are required for numerous processes in the body. Vitamin D requires vitamin K as a co-factor in the process known as carboxylation, during which calcium is bound to osteocalcin and deposited in the bones.
Vitamin D can be produced by the body from cholesterol under the influence of UV-B radiation. In Central Europe, this occurs most effectively during the summer months. During the darker months of the year, it is important to obtain vitamin D from the diet. Vitamin D plays a significant role in the normal functioning of the immune system, in maintaining normal bones, teeth and muscles, and in cell division. It also contributes to the normal absorption and utilisation of calcium and phosphorus.
Vitamin K2 is required, amongst other things, to transport calcium into the bones, thereby preventing it from being deposited in the arteries and other soft tissues. It is therefore involved in calcium metabolism, contributes to the maintenance of normal bones and supports normal blood clotting. Vitamin K2 is present in the form of MK7 (menaquinone 7), which is characterised by high bioavailability. It is produced by bacteria and is found, for example, in fermented foods. The gut flora can also produce small amounts of vitamin K2 itself.
Vitamins D and K are fat-soluble vitamins, which means they are best absorbed when taken with fat. In this formulation, the vitamins are dissolved in high-quality wheat germ oil, which is also an excellent source of vitamin E. The vitamins are absorbed directly through the oral mucosa.

- Notes: People taking anticoagulant medicines (of the coumarin type) should therefore consult their doctor before taking vitamin K-containing food supplements. Not suitable for children under 11 years of age.
