It is essential for women to cover their specific micronutrient requirements from the time they wish to have children, through pregnancy and into the breastfeeding period. In addition to supporting the mother, this also supports a positive course of pregnancy for mother and child.

Vitamins from the B complex play a key role here. Folic acid contributes to the growth of maternal tissue during pregnancy. It is probably the best-known vitamin when it comes to pregnancy. This is because a supplementary intake of folic acid in pregnant women increases the folate level and a low folate level in pregnant women is a risk factor for the development of neural tube defects in the growing foetus. The positive effect occurs when at least 400µg of folic acid is taken daily as a supplement - over a period of at least one month before and up to three months after conception. The Pregnancy MultiComplex contains activated folic acid (Quatrefolic®), which is highly bioavailable for every metabolic type - which supports the increase in folic acid levels at the beginning of pregnancy.

Thiamine (vitamin B1), together with several other B vitamins, contributes to the normal function of the nervous system. Vitamin B2 supports the maintenance of normal mucous membranes, normal iron metabolism and, like vitamins E and C, the protection of cells from oxidative stress. Vitamin B6 contributes to the regulation of hormone activity and vitamin B12, as a proven MHA formula with three bioactive compounds, together with zinc and vitamin D, plays a role in cell division.

Vitamin D contributes to the maintenance of normal muscle function, teeth and - like vitamin K as the branded raw material vitaMK7® - normal bones and supports the maintenance of a normal calcium level in the blood.

Vitamin C as the optimally tolerated branded raw material Ester-C® is pH-neutral and highly bioavailable. It increases the absorption of iron and supports the normal function of the immune system.

The mineral zinc contributes to normal fertility and reproduction as well as to the normal synthesis of DNA and protein. The valuable minerals calcium and magnesium have a function in cell division.

Beta-carotene is a precursor of vitamin A and is only converted into this vitamin by the body when required, making it a safe source of vitamin A for pregnant women. Vitamin A has an important function in cell specialisation.

Optimum doses ofiron and iodine support the increased requirement during pregnancy. Iodine contributes to the normal production of thyroid hormones and, together with iron, also to normal cognitive functions.
