Seewald Ortho NAC 600 capsules are a dietary supplement containing N-acetyl-L-cysteine, the stabilised form and precursor of cysteine, to support the supply of the amino acid L-cysteine.
L-cysteine is synthesised in the body from the essential amino acid methionine. N-acetyl-L-cysteine (NAC) is better absorbed as a precursor of L-cysteine and is metabolised to L-cysteine in the liver. During the connection of two cysteine molecules, sulphur bridges are formed which play a role in stabilising many proteins in the body and, as a component of numerous enzymes, can help to accelerate metabolic reactions. N-acetyl-L-cysteine is metabolised together with L-glutamine and L-glycine to form glutathione. Glutathione has the ability to protect proteins and red blood cells from oxidation, among other things.
