Salus Floradix Lactoferrin 100 mg capsules are a food for special medical purposes (balanced diet). For dietary management of iron deficiency anaemia including inflammation-related forms.
People with a previous iron deficiency and the resulting altered blood formation with a reduced haemoglobin value (Hb value) and ferritin stores can develop iron deficiency anaemia. This is accompanied by a reduced oxygen supply to the cells, tissues and organs, including the brain. This can also affect the development of the embryo in the last trimester of pregnancy. This is because the red blood cells can only transport oxygen from the lungs by means of the red blood pigment haemoglobin with the central atom iron.
Iron therapy with medication is used when not enough iron is ingested with food or is available to meet the iron requirement, resulting in a drop in haemoglobin and iron deficiency anaemia. The high-dose iron therapy that is then started eliminates the therapeutically relevant iron deficiency, but can unfortunately often cause stomach pain and constipation or lead to an aversion to the taste of iron. These can be reasons for early discontinuation of iron therapy.
With the protein lactoferrin from cow's milk, a dietary management option is now available for iron deficiency anaemia to improve the availability of iron for the body. Lactoferrin has an inconspicuous flavour and is free from gastrointestinal intolerances that may occur with iron.
What is Floradix Lactoferrin?
The product consists of vegetarian capsules containing 100 mg of bovine lactoferrin from cow's milk per capsule. This is obtained and isolated from cow's milk under gentle conditions. Lactoferrin is a largely digestion-stable protein that is found in human and animal secretions and in breast milk. It is an immunologically relevant iron-binding glycoprotein and belongs to the class of transferrins. On the one hand, lactoferrin contains iron as a nutrient for pathogenic bacteria. On the other hand, lactoferrin modulates the transfer of dietary iron by positively influencing both the transfer from the food into the organism and by making iron bound in the body (e.g. in the intestinal wall) available. In this way, lactoferrin also supports iron availability, which is often restricted in inflammatory processes.
Lactoferrin improves the utilisation of body-available iron and improves its absorption - tasteless and without undesirable effects. Lactoferrin thus has a favourable effect on iron metabolism. In inflammatory diseases in particular, iron metabolism is often blocked to such an extent that iron transfer into the blood is inhibited. Floradix Lactoferrin is suitable for long-term use in the dietary management of iron deficiency anaemia, assuming a normal iron intake with food or medicinal iron supplements.

Directions
- Take 1 capsule 2 x daily with sufficient liquid at mealtimes. The daily dose is 200 mg lactoferrin. Duration of use according to doctor's instructions.
- User groups: Floradix® Lactoferrin 100 mg capsules are suitable for people with diagnosed iron deficiency anaemia - including pregnant women, and especially for people with iron deficiency anaemia due to inflammatory diseases.
- Important information: Not suitable for use as the sole source of nutrition. Must be used under medical supervision. Floradix® Lactoferrin 100 mg capsules are taken in conjunction with a balanced diet. Floradix® Lactoferrin 100 mg is obtained from cow's milk, which must be taken into account in case of milk protein allergy. Keep out of the reach of children and store in a dry place below 25 °C.

- Ingredients: Lactoferrin from cow's MILK (freeze-dried), starch, capsule shell (hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, colouring agent calcium carbonate), bulking agent microcrystalline cellulose, anti-caking agent magnesium salts of fatty acids.
- Nutritional information - daily dose per 2 capsules: energy 3 kJ / 1 kcal, fat < 0.5 g of which saturated fatty acids 0 g, carbohydrates < 0.5 g of which sugar 0 g, protein < 0.5 g, salt < 0.01 g of which sodium 0.35 mg, lactoferrin powder 200 mg from cow's milk (freeze-dried).
