ProWun+darm Functional Nutrition Powder is used for patients with chronic wounds, wound healing disorders, malnutrition and undernourishment are always a therapeutic challenge.

In addition to causal therapy and phase-appropriate wound management, there is a third important component: nutrition. The composition and quality of the individual nutritional components are crucial. ProWun+darm represents a simple, flexible and optimal nutritional concept for the patient.

Why is proWun+d so important:

A balanced diet is the basis for our health. Everyone needs an adequate supply of protein, carbohydrates, vitamins, trace elements and fluids. In special situations, the need for nutrients is increased and can no longer be sufficiently absorbed through food. In addition to the medical therapy concept, such as the selection of the optimum dressing, the right "food" plays an important role in faster wound healing . Proteins are our spare parts store from which the body "repairs" damage and wounds. The nutrients are quickly depleted, especially in the case of long-lasting wounds, and the need for proteins increases with age.

L-arginine is special among the amino acids because it contains more nitrogen (N) than all other amino acids with four nitrogen groups. The body can only form the vasoactive molecule NO (nitric oxide) from arginine. Nitric oxide controls the dilation of blood vessels and thus improves capillary blood flow. L-arginine regulates blood sugar levels and blood pressure. L-arginine increases phagocytosis and is important for the formation of collagen fibres.

To improve absorption, it is recommended in combination with other amino acids such as: L-glutamine. An increased need for L-glutamine is particularly evident after operations or in the case of injuries/burns. Existing infections can also lead to a rapid increase in the need for L-glutamine. L-glutamine regulates the acid-base balance and thus has a positive effect on metabolic processes.

Illness and stress form free radicals, which can cause many problems in the body in the long term. Free radicals are scavenged by antioxidants. Vitamin C is one of the best free radical scavengers, a co-factor and has an anti-inflammatory effect. Vitamin C supports collagen synthesis and thus the formation of stable connective tissue. Together with niacin and vitamin B6, vitamin C controls the production of L-carnitine, which isneeded to burn fat in the muscles. It also favours the absorption of iron in the small intestine.

Vitamins A, B2 (riboflavin), biotin and niacin contribute to the maintenance of normal skin.

Zinc and selenium are important for the healing and regeneration of cell tissue and the stabilisation of existing cells. As a co-factor of matrix metalloproteinases, zinc enables the formation of new tissue and promotes wound closure.

Vitamin D supplementation: From the age of around 65, the production of vitamin D in the skin decreases. Studies show that desirable effects can be achieved in the prevention of falls, fractures and premature death.

What functions does vitamin D have?

  • Intestine: absorption of calcium and phosphate from food
  • Bones and teeth: incorporation of calcium
  • Muscles: supply of calcium
  • Immune system: differentiation and maturation of defence cells
  • Endocrine system: secretion of insulin, thyroid hormones, parathyroid hormone
Dietary fibre

The oat fibre it contains is a valuable contribution to prebiotic nutrition and belongs to the group of indigestible dietary fibres.
With proWun+d they reach the lower intestine, where they serve as food for the positive bacteria in our intestinal flora and thus strengthen the intestine. This means that prebiotic foods provide optimal nutrition for the existing flora.
Tested: Studies show that cereal fibre can effectively lower blood sugar levels , making it an effective remedy against cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes.
The oat fibre group was the clear leader in terms of insulin sensitivity.
The ProFi-Met study (Protein, Fibre, and Metabolic Syndrome) by A.F.H. Pfeiffer and C. Honig. (Long-term study, 2011 in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition)
The combination of oat fibre and protein also significantly improves insulin sensitivity, as energy absorption from the intestine is blocked and the metabolism is activated.
