Pro Zoon CARDIO ZOON tablets for dogs and cats are a supplementary feed to support normal energy metabolism.
CARDIO ZOON is a novel, well-dosed feed supplement to support the energy metabolism. Since the discovery that a dietary TAURIN deficiency, for example, can be the cause of cardiac insufficiency, the dietary supply of missing or inadequately present very specific nutrients (CARINITIN, TAURIN, OMEGA-3 EPA fatty acids) has been an important accompanying dietary measure in the prevention and treatment of heart disease, in addition to the restriction of Na intake. Deficiency situations with corresponding deficiency symptoms can be caused, among other things, by a reduced intake with food, impaired absorption through the digestive tract and/or increased excretion via the kidneys.
- L-carnitine: Is formed in the body from lysine and methionine and is required for the transport of free fatty acids into the mitochondria of the heart muscle. The fatty acids associated with L-carnitine are transported through the mitochondrial membrane in the "cell power stations" to form the main organic energy carrier "ATP". Conversely, L-carnitine also has a cell protection function in that it removes potentially toxic metabolic products from the mitochondria in the form of carnitine esters. A pronounced carnitine deficiency can lead to an expansion of the heart walls due to a metabolic disorder of the heart muscle cells and thus to cardiac insufficiency.
- Taurine (2-aminoethylsulfonic acid): Is an essential component for maintaining essential physiological functions. These include the binding of taurine to bile acid, which increases cholesterol solubility and excretion; the regulation of intracellular calcium levels to protect the heart muscle from disturbances in intracellular calcium homeostasis; the preventive effect of taurine against cardiac arrhythmias by modulating the Ca current in and out of the heart muscle cells.
- Hawthorn (Crataegus oxyacantha): The dried leaves, flowers and fruits of the plant are used, which contain the highest levels of oligomeric procyanidins and flavonoids (hyperoside, vitexin, rutin). These substances are responsible for the contractile effect. The special position of hawthorn is based on the fact that the flavonoids support contractile performance and the procyanidins promote blood circulation. Oligomeric procyanidins are rapidly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract in dogs after oral administration.

How to use
- As early as possible: At the first signs of a decline in performance, in states of exhaustion, noticeable tiredness or when long walks become a problem: targeted L-carnitine & taurine supplementation with CARDIO ZOON supports heart function and blood circulation.
- Can be combined well to strengthen muscles: To increase muscle strength as an adjuvant dietary measure in combination with conservative treatment: ACE inhibitors, diuretics.
Feeding recommendation:
The tablets listed below should be administered in the morning and evening.
- Cats, small dogs - ½ tablet
- Dogs 10 - 20 kg - 1 tablet
- Dogs 20 - 40 kg - 1 - 2 tablets
- Dogs 40 - 80 kg - 2 - 4 tablets
A response to the food supplement is usually seen within 1 - 4 weeks through increased appetite and increased activity. If the animal responds well to the administration of CARDIO-ZOON, then a course of regular administration over 6 months is recommended
