Vetiver is a tropical grass with a distinctive, fragrant root system that originally comes from Asia. Vetiver plants are cultivated in many countries to stop soil erosion with their roots, which can grow up to 3 metres deep. In Asia, vetiver roots are used to make fragrant wickerwork and mats. Vetiver is used as incense and as a fixative in perfumery. In naturopathy, vetiver is used to treat skin problems and nervous tension.
