Lemongrass, also known as lemon grass, is a perennial reed-like aromatic grass that is cultivated in Asia and South America. Lemongrass can grow up to 3 metres high in dense clumps. The rough, reed-like leaves have a strong citrus-like fragrance and are used fresh as a spice in Asian and Vietnamese cuisine. The essential oil is used in perfumery.
