- Omega 7 Pharma Nord is a food supplement consisting of vegetarian capsules with 500 mg of standardised sea buckthorn oil in each capsule. Rosemary extract has been added as an antioxidant.
- Unique sea buckthorn oil: The sea buckthorn oil in Omega 7 Pharma Nord is labelled SBA24. It is a unique formulation that has been used in many clinical studies. The oil is extracted from both berries and seeds of the sea buckthorn plant, which offers the richest combination of active ingredients. - Why fish oil is important The sea buckthorn plant (Hippophae rhamnoides L.) is a deciduous shrub that can grow up to six metres high. The plant grows wild in Europe and Asia, typically in dunes along the coasts. In mountainous areas it can be found in dry river beds. The female plants produce characteristic orange-coloured drupes that are rich in essential and non-essential fatty acids, flavonoids, fruit acids, beta-carotene and more.
- There are only a few plants that are good sources of the important polyunsaturated fatty acids. In addition to the omega-7 fatty acid, sea buckthorn oil is a good source of the omega-3 fatty acid alpha-linolenic acid and the omega-6 fatty acid linoleic acid, both of which are essential, as well as oleic acid, which is an omega-9 fatty acid and is high in antioxidants (tocopherols, tocotrienols, carotenoids, plant sterols and fat-soluble vitamins).
