- Omega 7 Pharma Nord is a dietary supplement consisting of vegetable capsules, each containing 500 mg of standardised sea buckthorn oil. Rosemary extract has been added as an antioxidant.
- Unique sea buckthorn oil: The sea buckthorn oil in Omega 7 Pharma Nord is designated SBA24. It is a unique formulation that has been used in numerous clinical trials. The oil is extracted from both the berries and the seeds of the sea buckthorn plant, which offers the richest combination of active ingredients. - Why fish oil is important The sea buckthorn plant (Hippophae rhamnoides L.) is a deciduous shrub that can grow up to six metres tall. The plant grows wild in Europe and Asia, typically in dunes along coastlines. In mountainous areas, it can be found in dry riverbeds. The female plants produce characteristic orange-coloured drupes that are rich in essential and non-essential fatty acids, flavonoids, fruit acids, beta-carotene and more.
- There are very few plants that are good sources of these important polyunsaturated fatty acids. As well as omega-7 fatty acid, sea buckthorn oil is a good source of the omega-3 fatty acid alpha-linolenic acid and the omega-6 fatty acid linoleic acid, both of which are essential, as well as oleic acid, which is an omega-9 fatty acid, and which contains a high proportion of antioxidants (tocopherols, tocotrienols, carotenoids, plant sterols and fat-soluble vitamins).
