Pater Severin Aniseed Spray is a dietary supplement based on an old monastery recipe for ingestion. Made from a 100 % aqueous/alcoholic extract of aniseed fruits.
Aniseed (Pimpinella anisum L.) belongs to the umbellifer family (Apiaceae). The essential oil, which is obtained from ripe dried fruits, is used. The main component is trans-anethole. It also contains fatty oil, phenolcarboxylic acids and flavonoids. In folk medicine, aniseed is used to treat stomach and intestinal complaints, as well as flatulence and bloating. Thanks to its secretolytic and secretomotor properties, it has been used as a cough remedy for catarrhs of the respiratory tract.
