A streptococci
Group A ß-hemolytic streptococci (also known as Streptococcus pyogenes) are Gram-positive bacteria that cause a variety of diseases and complications, including pharyngitis (throat infections), skin infections such as impetigo and erysipelas, acute glomerulonephritis, septicaemia and rheumatic heart disease. Pharyngitis is often caused by viral infections and less frequently by bacterial infections that require antibiotic therapy. STREP A TEST is a specific immunological test for the detection of A streptococci in throat infections. It helps to quickly recognise whether a sore throat is caused by group A streptococci or by other germs that do not require treatment with antibiotics.
Principle of the test
STREP A TEST is an immunochromatographic test that detects the presence of specific streptococcus A antigens thanks to gold-conjugated antibodies contained in the test strip.
Technical data
STREP A TEST is an immunochromatographic device that detects the presence of specific Strep A antigens in throat samples.
- Specificity 99.0%
- Sensitivity 91.89
- Accuracy 97.9%
Dosage form
Self test kit consisting of 1 test cassette, 1 dropper bottle with R1 solution, 1 dropper bottle with R2 solution, 1 sterile swab, 1 sterile tongue depressor, 1 empty plastic tube with drop counter, instructions for use.
Application

- Place the dropper on the tube and add 1 drop to the well. Wait 5 minutes to read the result.
Interpretation of the results:
- Negative: No Strep A antigens were detected in the sample or their concentration is below the limit value.
- Positive: Strep A antigens were detected in the sample. It is advisable to consult your doctor, who will recommend the correct treatment.
