PRIMA® Strep A Home Test - Streptococcus A self-test, 1 ST

Product information "PRIMA® Strep A Home Test - Streptococcus A self-test"

The PRIMA® Strep A Home Test offers a quick and reliable way to detect Group A streptococcal infections at home. A self-test for the detection of β-haemolytic Group A streptococci from throat swabs – results in just 5 minutes.

Group A streptococci

β-haemolytic Group A streptococci (also known as Streptococcus pyogenes) are Gram-positive bacteria that cause a wide range of illnesses and complications, including pharyngitis (throat infections), skin infections such as impetigo and erysipelas, acute glomerulonephritis, sepsis and rheumatic heart disease. Pharyngitis is frequently caused by viral infections and, less commonly, by bacterial infections, in which case antibiotic treatment is necessary. STREP A TEST is a specific immunological test for the detection of Group A streptococci in throat infections. It helps to quickly determine whether a sore throat is caused by Group A streptococci or by other pathogens that do not require treatment with antibiotics.

Principle of the test

STREP A TEST is an immunochromatographic test which, thanks to gold-conjugated antibodies contained in the test strip, detects the presence of specific Group A streptococcal antigens.

Technical data

STREP A TEST is an immunochromatographic device that detects the presence of specific Group A streptococcal antigens in throat swab samples.

  • Specificity 99.0%
