Medihoney® Antibacterial honey-alginate dressing 9x30cm, 5 ST

All products in the Derma Sciences MEDIHONEY ® range contain MEDIHONEY ® antibacterial honey, a standardised medicinal antibacterial honey derived from Leptospermum sp. (Manuka). This honey has been processed using advanced science to maximise the healing potential of the product. The Medihoney™ antibacterial honey alginate dressing is especially suitable for deep or fissured wounds. Efficacy: MEDIHONEY ® tulle, alginate and gel dressings can be used for both acute and chronic wound care. Their effectiveness includes: - supports wound healing (creates a moist wound environment essential for healing) - protects the wound by forming an antibacterial barrier against bacteria, including antibiotic-resistant strains - rapid, effective autolytic debridement to cleanse the wound and remove slough and debris. - rapidly eliminates the odour of malodorous wounds - reduces the risk of bacterial colonisation Indications for use: Leg / foot ulcers Pressure ulcers Infected wounds Infected wounds Infected wounds Malodorous wounds Diabetic wounds Transplant sites (donor and recipient) Burns Superficial wounds such as cuts, scratches, abrasions Surgical wounds Necrotic wounds Serious wounds should be treated under the supervision of a healthcare professional.

Application

1. if necessary, treat wound edges with MEDIHONEY® protective cream. 2. the gel dressing has protective films on both sides of the dressing. These must be removed before use. 3. place the dressing on the wound in such a way that complete contact with the wound bed is ensured. Several dressings can be placed next to each other for larger wounds and on top of each other for deeper wounds. Alternatively, the wound can be filled with MEDIHONEY® Antibacterial Medical Honey beforehand. The dressing can be cut to the shape of the wound with sterile scissors or folded accordingly. 4. A suitable second sterile dressing should be used to cover the MEDIHONEY® dressing. The second dressing should be absorbent enough to soak up the wound secretions (exudate). 5. the wound can be cleaned according to the standardised wound cleaning protocol when changing the dressing. Suitable for use under compression dressings. Frequency of dressing changes: - MEDIHONEY® dressings must be thinned and/or gelled after dilution by wound secretions (exudate). Depending on the amount of wound secretion (exudate), the dressings can remain on the wound for up to 7 days - All MEDIHONEY® dressings are non-adherent and can therefore be easily removed without tearing the wound bed and new tissue. - Highly exuding wounds require close monitoring and may require daily dressing changes. Contraindications: Do not use on individuals with a known hypersensitivity to any of the dressing ingredients. Observations: The wound may initially appear larger and deeper as dead tissue is removed. After this apparent increase, there should be an improved appearance of the wound. Precautions: - Due to the properties of honey, some patients may experience mild discomfort such as burning or pulling during application. This discomfort should pass with time. If the discomfort is unbearable, the dressing should be removed and the affected area rinsed - For dry wounds, the dressing may need to be moistened before removal - For heavily bleeding wounds, the dressing should be used with caution Please do not use damaged packaging. The product is only sterile as long as the packaging is intact. Please recycle the materials.
