The argan tree grows in south-west Morocco. Argan oil is extracted from the seeds of the tree in the traditional Berber way and is one of Morocco's most precious oils. The speciality of argan oil is its high vitamin E content, which helps to protect cells from oxidative stress. It also contains antioxidants and valuable unsaturated fatty acids. In contrast to olive oil, the proportion of linoleic acid is much higher. Linoleic acid contributes to the maintenance of normal blood cholesterol levels (1.5 g/100 g and at least 10 g/day).
