Acai berries are the fruit of the cabbage palm, which is native to the Amazon rainforests. Acai berries are round, approx. 1-2 cm in diameter and have a dark blue to purple colour. Acai berries are very rich in vitamins (A, C, E), minerals and unsaturated fatty acids and have a high content of anthocyanin, a secondary plant substance that is responsible for the blue-violet colour. This natural plant pigment is an antioxidant that can scavenge free radicals and promote cell renewal.
