MOVICOL® Powder Stick sachet is a medicine from the group of laxatives for the treatment of constipation in adults, adolescents and elderly patients. It is not recommended for use in children under 12 years of age.
Movicol® Powder helps you to achieve comfortable bowel movements, even if you have been suffering from constipation for a long time. Movicol powder also helps you with stubborn constipation with stagnation of faeces in the bowel, called "coprostasis".

How to use
- This medicine can be taken at any time and independently of a meal. Dissolve the contents of one sachet in 125 ml of water and drink.
- Constipation: One dose of Movicol powder corresponds to 1 sachet dissolved in 125 ml of water. Depending on the severity of your constipation, take 1 sachet 1-3 times a day.
- Faecal stasis (coprostasis): Before taking Movicol powder, it should be confirmed that you have coprostasis. You need 8 sachets of Movicol powder daily to treat faecal stasis. Each sachet is dissolved in 125 ml of water. The dose of 8 sachets should be taken within 6 hours and - depending on requirements - over a period of up to 3 days. Patients with heart disease should not take more than 2 sachets per hour.
Preparation of the solution:
- Open the sachet and pour the contents into a glass. Add approx. 125 ml or half a glass of water. Stir until the powder has completely dissolved and the Movicol solution is clear or slightly cloudy. Now drink the solution. If you are taking Movicol powder for coprostasis, it may be easier to dissolve all 8 sachets at once in 1 litre of water.
Duration of use:
- Constipation: treatment with Movicol powder usually lasts about 2 weeks. If you need to take Movicol powder for a longer period of time, please talk to your doctor. If your constipation is caused by a disease such as Parkinson's disease or multiple sclerosis (MS), or if you are taking medicines that cause constipation, your doctor may recommend that you take Movicol powder for longer than 2 weeks. If you need to take Movicol powder for a longer period of time, please talk to your doctor. For long-term treatment, the dose can usually be reduced to 1 or 2 sachets per day.
- Faecal congestion (coprostasis): Treatment with Movicol powder can last up to 3 days.
Ingredients
- Each 13.8 g sachet of Movicol powder contains the following ingredients: Macrogol 3350 13.125 g Sodium chloride 0.3507 g Sodium hydrogen carbonate 0.1785 g Potassium chloride 0.0466 g.
- Movicol powder also contains lemon/lime flavouring and acesulfame potassium (E950) as a sweetener.
- Lemon/lime flavouring contains the following ingredients: Arabic gum, maltodextrin, lime oil, lemon oil, citral, citric acid and water.
- The following values are obtained for each sachet after dissolving in 125 ml water: Sodium 65 mmol/l Chloride 53 mmol/l Potassium 5.4 mmol/l Hydrogen carbonate 17 mmol/l .
