Loperamide Sandoz is a medicine for diarrhoea.

Loperamide Sandoz is used for the symptomatic treatment of diarrhoea in adults and adolescents aged 12 years and over if no causative therapy is available.

If there is no improvement after 2 days, stop taking Loperamide Sandoz and consult your doctor.

Treatment with Loperamide Sandoz beyond 2 days may only be carried out under medical prescription and observation of the course of treatment.

Directions for use

Oral use.

Unless otherwise prescribed by a doctor, the recommended dose is

Adults take 2 capsules at the start of treatment for acute diarrhoea and then 1 capsule after each unformed stool.
A maximum daily dose of 6 capsules should not be exceeded, as severe constipation can occur.
Adolescents from 12 to 18 years of age should take 1 capsule at the start of treatment for acute diarrhoea and then 1 capsule after each unformed stool.
A maximum daily dose of 1 capsule per 10 kg body weight (maximum 4 capsules) should not be exceeded, as severe constipation may occur.
No dose adjustment is necessary for elderly patients or patients with kidney damage.
If you have severe liver dysfunction, you should only take Loperamide Sandoz after consulting your doctor and only if prescribed by a doctor.

Duration of use

In the case of acute diarrhoea, if the diarrhoea persists 2 days after the start of treatment, Loperamide Sandoz should be discontinued immediately and a doctor consulted. Treatment with loperamide beyond 2 days may only be carried out under medical prescription and observation of the course of treatment.

Ingredients

The active substance is loperamide hydrochloride.

1 capsule contains 2 mg loperamide hydrochloride.

The other ingredients are 127 mg lactose monohydrate, maize starch, talc, magnesium stearate, gelatine, colours: patent blue (E 131), titanium dioxide (E 171), yellow and black iron oxide (E 172).
