Lefax® Suspension: an uncomplicated dosage form for infants

Well tolerated, easy to use and a reliable effect: Lefax® Suspension is particularly suitable for infants who suffer from excessive gas formation and gas accumulation in the gastrointestinal tract with accompanying symptoms such as flatulence, bloating and a feeling of tension in the upper abdomen. Lefax® oral suspension can also be used for the symptomatic treatment of infant colic (3-month colic).

Other areas of application are

Preparation for diagnostic examinations in the abdominal area (sonography, X-ray)
for increased gas formation after operations and Roemheld syndrome
For ingestion and poisoning caused by cleaning agents (e.g. soap, shampoo)

Application

The following is recommended for the treatment of flatulence and bloating:

For infants and bottle-fed children, 1-2 pumps are added to each bottle.
Infants should take 2 pumps, adults 2-4 pumps with or after meals (in a glass) with a little water; if necessary also before going to bed.

In preparation for diagnostic examinations in the abdominal area, adults should take 4-6 pumps after each meal on the day before the examination and on the morning of the day of the examination.

In the case of poisoning with detergents, the dosage depends on the severity of the poisoning. For children 5-20 pumps (2.5-10 ml) and for adults 20-40 pumps (10-20 ml) are recommended.

The duration of administration depends on the type and course of the symptoms. Lefax suspension can be taken over a longer period of time if necessary.

Lefax suspension must be shaken before use!

Instructions for handling the dosing pump:

Remove the screw cap from the bottle.
Screw the dosing pump onto the neck of the bottle.
Hold the bottle vertically when pumping.
Turn pump mechanism to position I (see lid), then actuate until liquid comes out. Do not use the first 4 pump strokes.
After the dosing pump has been screwed on for the first time (first use), it must not be unscrewed again (do not screw the pump on and off with each use).

To compensate for the small loss of liquid when the dosing pump is put into operation and the remaining quantity after the preparation has been opened, the bottle contains correspondingly more suspension.

The dosing pump can be closed by turning it to the right to position O (see lid).

Lefax suspension can be given with or after meals and mixes easily with cold and warm drinks (e.g. tea, water, milk) as well as bottle and baby food. If required, it can also be given at bedtime.

Ingredients

1ml suspension (2 pumps) contains 41.2 mg simeticone as the active ingredient.

The other ingredients are Sorbic acid 1.20 mg/ml, potassium sorbate 0.402 mg/ml, sodium cyclamate 1.35 mg/ml, saccharin sodium 0.15 mg/ml, macrogol 6000, magnesium aluminium silicate type IIA, hydroxyethyl cellulose, polyoxyethylene 25-glycerol trioleate, banana flavouring 209 152, citric acid anhydrous, purified water.
